HSC122 - Foundations of Public Health
Public health plays a vital role in keeping populations healthy, and this unit introduces students to the history of public health and its core concepts and practices. Taking a local and global perspective, this unit provides foundational understanding of health policy development and frameworks, social, economic and behavioural determinants of health, environmental health influences, public health ethics and the public health workforce. Students are introduced to an evidence-based approach to explore the changing patterns of chronic and communicable disease, injury prevention,
the different health organisations involved and how public health is present in the world around them.
