HSC133 - Perspectives of Indigenous Health
This unit provides students with knowledge and understanding of Indigenous health perspectives to support successful health strategies and service delivery with Indigenous Australians. Key concepts underpinning the historical, social and political impact on the health of Indigenous Australians are explored. The significance of traditional and contemporary Indigenous healthcare knowledges and practices in relation to the health and wellbeing of Indigenous people is presented alongside Western knowledges and practices that inform healthcare in Australia and beyond. This unit presents students with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills of cultural security and cultural safety when working with identity and difference, and diversity with Indigenous populations.
