In this unit, an understanding of the self and the culture of the self is explored to develop important knowledge and skills involved in equitable and generative interpersonal and intercultural relationships. Students are required to build upon their understandings of culture to map out a framework for exploring the parameters of their cultural self and the implications of this increased awareness upon the interactions between themselves and others. Cultural understandings of gender, ethnicity, age, socio-economic status and heritage are explored as a vehicle for developing principles for equitable and generative cross-cultural and inter-personal interactions.
