Operations Management is an area of management concerned with overseeing, designing, and controlling the process of production and redesigning business operations in the production of goods or services. This unit explores both key and contemporary operations management concepts including the primary areas of Value Chains; Operations Strategy; Goods and Service Design; Process Selection, Design and Analysis; Facility and Work Design; Supply Chain Design; Capacity Management; Managing Inventories; Resource Management; Quality Management; Lean Operating Systems. In studying this unit students will explore these conceptual areas using and range of examples from different industry sectors including hospitality, manufacturing and services industries.
