MID223 - Transition to Parenthood and Breastfeeding
This unit focuses on midwifery support of the early breastfeeding relationship and transition to parenthood. Students will discuss the transition to responsive parenting together with respectful communication with parents who choose not to adhere to best available evidence, for example, infant feeding, screening, and vaccinations. Students will apply knowledge of the related anatomy and physiology, benefits of breastfeeding, and advantages for the infant microbiome to supporting breastfeeding women and their infants.
