In this unit students continue to learn midwifery practice skills to provide safe and competent midwifery care to women, babies and their families. The focus of this unit is on skills related to midwifery care of the woman experiencing complexity arising during pregnancy and of the newborn at birth. To meet accreditation requirements students must demonstrate the capacity to establish, build and maintain continuity of midwifery care in their Continuity of Midwifery Care experiences. Students will also attend 32 hours of simulation block (hurdle) and complete 240 hours Midwifery Practice Experience (MPE) (hurdle) allocated by CDU as a part of this unit. The CDU School of Midwifery website has further details on the requirements for MPE placements and other important information.
