MLS211 - Introduction Into Clinical Chemistry
In this unit students will discover the biochemical and physiological rationale for performing tests in a clinical chemistry laboratory. Students will be trained in preparing solutions, performing laboratory tests, analysing and interpreting the results of clinical chemistry investigations. This will require students to develop the ability to comment on sample collection and quality, laboratory calculations, quality assurance and laboratory accreditation. Additionally, students will develop an understanding of the varying analytical techniques, automation and point of care testing, focusing on plasma proteins, enzymes, electrolytes, lipids, homeostasis, and metabolism.Â
