NUR125 Nursing Practice 1

Using a Primary Health Care focus which emphasises continuity of care, students enrolled in NUR125 Nursing Practice 1 explore illness and injury prevention across the lifespan. They study evidence-informed practice, remote and rural health, Indigenous health, concepts of wellness and illness, and cultural safety. During the one week Simulation Block (SB) students have the opportunity to apply theoretical concepts to practice in a simulated environment followed by a clinical placement.

This unit includes 1 x 5 day SB and a full time clinical placement arranged by the Placement Office. The theory component of the unit requires students to engage with learning materials from week one. A 100% result is required on the medication calculation test prior to SB.

Students must meet all pre-clinical requirements and nominate for a SB and placement to be eligible for this unit. Announcements about nominations will be made via the CDU website and to students' CDU email addresses.

This unit is only available in Internal mode due to the requirement for clinical teaching and/or placement attendance. Students undertaking the course externally must enrol internally in this unit in order to attend the SB and/or Placement regardless of location. This does not alter a student's course study mode preference.
