NUR130 - Introduction to Health and Wellbeing
This unit introduces the meaning and value of health and well being across the lifespan. Using a strength-based approach, health and well being will be explored through multiple lenses of Australia's diverse population including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health priorities. Students will examine the theoretical foundations of fundamental nursing care required to maintain health and well being including nutrition, mobility, hygiene, sleep, stress, spirituality, sexuality and independence in accordance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.
Students will develop the knowledge and skills to perform comprehensive and focused health assessments using both physical and psycho-social determinants of health and well being. Students will critically evaluate assessment data to
inform safe person-centered care in a simulated clinical environment.
To meet accreditation requirements students must attend an on-campus simulation block (32 hours) as a part of this unit. Please refer to the College of Nursing and Midwifery website for further details on the requirements for simulation hours and other important information.
