NUR132 Communication for Person-Centred Practice
Communication in nursing practice is essential to person-centred care, patient safety, health and wellbeing. This unit introduces concepts of language, literacy and communication styles required for professional practice and academic work. Students will use national standards to develop written and interpersonal skills in preparation for person-centred nursing practice for diverse health care settings.
Communication in contemporary healthcare settings is explored to develop knowledge and understanding of cultural sensitivity, cultural safety and interprofessional interactions. Students will demonstrate effective clinical communication and safe documentation to ensure informed consent, dignity and continuity of care.
