NUR255 - Challenges to Health and Wellbeing

This unit extends on the knowledge of the previous health and wellbeing across the lifespan unit. Using a strength-based approach, challenges to health and wellbeing will be explored through multiple lenses of Australia's diverse population including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health priorities. Students will examine the theoretical foundations of acute registered nursing care required to assess and manage challenges to health and wellbeing. Students will continue to develop their knowledge and skills to perform comprehensive and focused health assessments using both physical and psycho-social determinants of health and wellbeing.

Students will critically evaluate assessment data to inform safe person-centred care in a simulated clinical environment within second year scope of registered nursing practice.

To meet accreditation requirements students must attend an on-campus simulation block (32 hours) as a part of this unit. Please refer to the College of Nursing and Midwifery website for further details on the requirements for simulation hours and other important information.
