NUR344 Nursing Practice 4
NUR344 Nursing Practice 4 is a core third year clinical unit in the Bachelor of Nursing course. Theoretical clinical knowledge and skills gained in previous clinical units are further extended during clinical placement in community health settings. The unit focuses on the promotion and maintenance of health and wellbeing and supporting the patient/client to become independent in their own health care. Students are expected to demonstrate their ability to provide safe, competent, culturally responsive nursing care to patients and to demonstrate sound clinical decision-making skills in community settings.
Students are required to show further progression towards meeting Australian professional standards of nursing practice. A primary focus is on out-of-hospital nursing care of medium acuity patients from Indigenous and culturally linguistic diverse communities.
This unit includes 4 week/160 hour full time placement within the community setting arranged by the Placement Office. The theory component of the unit requires students to engage with learning materials from week one via Learnline. A result of 100% attendance is required in the NUR343 Simulation Block (Hurdle Assessment).
