NUR360 - Preparation for Nursing Practice 3
This unit prepares third-year nursing students to advance their clinical nursing skills in recognising and managing complex patient conditions. With a focus on clinical reasoning and culturally safe person-centred care, students will be guided to enhance their proficiency in patient assessments within a simulated clinical environment. The unit emphasises the application of evidence-based practice across the lifespan, ensuring students are well-equipped to make informed clinical decisions in rapidly changing situations.
Students will build on and consolidate theoretical and practical knowledge gained from other units in the degree program and have the opportunity to think critically about the clinical, psychosocial and cultural complexities they will face as registered nurses. A key feature of this unit is a mandatory 32-hour clinical simulation (hurdle), immersing students in high-pressure scenarios that will enhance critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and advanced clinical skills.Â
