NUR366 - Complex Care

This unit extends on the knowledge of previous health and wellbeing across the lifespan units, exploring the theoretical foundations of advanced care nursing. Using a strength-based approach complex care, in both the primary and tertiary health care settings, will be explored through multiple lenses of Australia's diverse population including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health priorities.

Students will apply clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice for culturally safe and person-centred care at the level of a beginning practitioner. Advanced patient assessment and management will be explored in the context of specialised patient groups across the lifespan including mental health. Students will critically evaluate assessment data to inform safe person-centred care in a simulated clinical environment within third year scope of registered nursing practice in accordance to the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.
