NUR510 Foundation of Nurse Practitioner Practice
The unit will introduce the student to the required professional foundation for development and implementation of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) role. Students will explore the unique characteristics of a Nurse Practitioner service within the health care system and implementation of the Nurse Practitioner role nationally and internationally. They will gain knowledge to interpret relevant standards, policies and legislation that governs the practice of the Nurse Practitioner. On completion of the unit students should be able to develop a plan for a Nurse Practitioner Service within their own clinical specialty and its health care settings to meet needs from either the general or a special population.
