This unit provides students with specialized knowledge of the nutrition needs for healthy people across the lifespan and their physiological basis. Students will critically reflect on the causes and consequences of suboptimal nutrition during critical periods of development (preconception through early childhood, adolescence) and identify strategies for intervention. Approaches for communication and education at different lifestages will be implemented, including use of dietary guidelines and food selection guides.
