OCC501 - Principles and Processes of Occupational Therapy

In this unit students will develop understanding of how the philosophical and historical foundations of occupational therapy have shaped the profession as it is practised today. Students will learn the theoretical models and processes that occupational therapists use in occupation-based, client centred practice. There will be 20 hours of practice education during which students will observe some occupational therapists providing services to their clients. During these sessions, students will observe the application of the Australian occupational therapy competency standards such as professionalism and communication which are required in occupational therapy practice in all settings and with a diverse range of clients. Also, there will be 5 hours of intensive workshop - 2 hours pre placement for preparation and 3 hours post placement for debriefing.
