The unit provides an introduction to politics and government in Australia including the constitutional framework, the parliamentary system, the federal system, political parties and the party system, voters and elections, interest group politics, class and sectoral politics and case studies of contemporary political issues. These topics will be illustrated using case studies of contemporary political issues.
