PRT572 Communications and Network Security Engineering
This unit provides a broad introduction to data communication and network technology. It encompasses the structures, techniques, transport protocols and security measures used to provide security for transmissions over private and public communication networks. The unit focuses mainly on the issues around threats to network layer, including methods of identifying and countering them. Students will acquire skills on how to secure network infrastructures where legacy systems/applications are hosted. This unit will also demonstrate various open source network level penetration testing tools to identify the network security vulnerabilities. This unit covers the Communications and Networks Security domains of Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification. The unit is reliant on on-line materials. Students must have access to a reliable high-speed broadband connection.
