Sound knowledge and skills regarding principles of cultural safety and communication are imperative to academic and professional competence. Students reflect on how culture shapes language use and communication between individuals.

This unit introduces students to various concepts from the field of intercultural communication, to promote an understanding of the skills required for positive engagement within culturally diverse settings. Students evaluate their own 'cultural self' through exploration of pre-existing knowledge, values and beliefs via interpersonal and interactive processes.
