SBI190 - Microbiology and Immunology for Healthcare Professionals
Microbiology and Immunology for Healthcare Professionals will provide students with fundamental knowledge regarding microorganisms and their impact on human health. Students will gain knowledge of the biology and diversity of microorganisms and of important bacterial, fungal, viral, and parasitic infections affecting humans. They will also be introduced to essential concepts regarding the role of the immune system in defence against infection. Students will gain key insights into the transmission of infectious diseases and methods to reduce transmission, with a focus on infection control in the healthcare environment.
