SLT311 - Communication Across the Lifespan
This unit has two main themes: 1. Students will learn about speech, language and swallowing and the related anatomy and physiology necessary for function. 2. Students will learn about communication development and use, including the development of language, speech, cognition, play and sensory-motor milestones, as well as typical changes associated with ageing. Associated with this, students will explore variations resulting from cultural and linguistic diversity, including Indigenous languages and dialects. Students will learn about the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health framework and will use this as a basis to consider language development and function in context.
