SPE330 - Physical Activity in Special Population
The unit will provide students with insight into the significance of exercise on health, both prophylaxis and rehabilitation, embedded within evidenced based practice of exercise and its relationship with health. Students will acquire knowledge and an understanding of skills required to conduct health related exercise testing and health related exercise prescription to enhance and remediate individual and group health through the modality of exercise. Special emphasis will be directed towards addressing exercise and health issues with special populations and within different cultural backgrounds. Students will also be introduced to the concept of scientific methodology and clinical reasoning and be required to demonstrate an understanding of the processes involved in retrieving, reviewing and critiquing exercise science and exercise and sport medical literature. The unit will equip students with the knowledge and skills to conduct health related exercise testing and exercise prescription to enhance and remediate health using exercise.
