STAEDTLER COMPASS COMFORT MASTERBOW WITH EXTENSION BAR
The Staedtler Mars Comfort 551 02 is the Mars Comfort Masterbow Compass with Extension Bar, which adds a lengthening bar to the lead leg of the 551 01 compass, allowing circles of larger radius than the standard compass can achieve without the bar.
The extension bar is a standard accessory in professional compass sets - it attaches to the lead leg of the masterbow compass and effectively increases the maximum radius the compass can draw. This is essential for architectural and engineering drawings where large floor-plan circles, campus layouts, or engineering section drawings exceed the standard compass reach. The 551 02 includes the compass body (equivalent to the 551 01) plus the extension bar as a combined product. The Mars Comfort masterbow mechanism, rubberised grip and ball joint lead leg are the same as the 551 01.
Professional architects and engineers working at a large drawing scale who need both the standard and extended range may prefer the 551 02 to purchasing separately.
