MIDDLE YEARS SCHOOLING: REFRAMING ADOLESCENCE

For courses in Middle Years Education for Education Students.   This text recognises the need to view adolescents and their educational requirements in the middle school years as unique, requiring a new approach to curriculum, pedagogy and assessment. For teachers, understanding and interpreting the developmental and educational needs of these students, as they progress from childhood to adulthood, is becoming a significant component of teacher education. This text selects several areas relating to adolescents’ personal development such as health, identity, employment and technology. It then explores these within the context of an education and schooling perspective. Middle Years Schooling uses research and cases from a predominantly Australian perspective.
