ELA201 Teaching English as An Additional Language

his unit introduces pre-service teachers to contemporary theories and practices in Teaching English as an Additional Language. Using a diagnostic analysis of the needs of teaching English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EALD) learners, pre-service teachers plan and design teaching activities which are in line with the Australian curriculum. The unit also discusses in depth the impact of cross-cultural backgrounds on EALD teaching and learning and this is specifically referenced to Indigenous learners in the Northern Territory.
