ENG305 Safety, Risk and Reliability
The issues of safety, OH&S, reliable designs and what constitutes acceptable risk are central to any practical application of engineering. These issues are explored, using examples of both good and poor engineering practice, covering topics such as:
- lifecycle analysis, including CDIO (Conceive, Design, Implement and Operate)

- industrial hygiene, including identification, evaluation and control, MSDS
- fires and explosions

- risk and reliability assessment

- HAZOP, HAZID and HAZAN
- sustainability, including environmental assessment processes
